Netflix en HBO namen beide 23 beeldjes mee naar huis. Maar ook Amazon en FX wonnen deze avond. De grote vijf (CBS, ABC, The CW, FOX en NBC) zijn daarmee door de Emmy's op een zijspoor gezet. Zij zullen in de toekomst met 'betere' series moeten komen willen ze gaan winnen van Netflix en HBO. Bij Atlanta, waarvan gedacht werd dat deze komedie veel prijzen in de wacht zou slepen, bleef het deze avond akelig stil.
